Oh, today was a good one, involving:
*lucky things like a long walk in which a penny was found on heads and a red bird was wished upon. "See a red bird. Make a wish and quick, blow a kiss and touch something blue before it flies away. Your wish will come true."
*the last slice of banana bread baked by a sweet friend.
*the sanding of an old cabinet door and some discarded small rectangles of wood in preparation for a painting marathon. hopefully. it's been a while since i had anything to share but the pull is there. with olivia in school now i have been sketching girls with roots and wings and mothers learning to let go. since returning from the Outer Banks I have been drawing women in houses by the sand.
*precious time spent with family
*precious time spent alone
*research on work-in-progress
*800 words written on work-in-progess
*gratitude aplenty
*and this quote by Father Albert D'Souza:
"For a long time it has seemed to me that life was about to begin; Real life. But there was always some obstacle in the way, something to be got through first, some unfinished business, time still to be served, a debt to be paid. Then life would begin. At last it dawned on me that these obstacles were my life."
Blessings,

How do mothers ever learn to let go? It must be so difficult. I wonder why I never thought about that when I was the one growing up. To be quite up front, I'm not sorry that I don't have to deal with this. Isn't it wonderful that we can draw and paint? Sometimes drawing is the only way to express yourself. I'm looking forward to seeing your new art and hope to be posting some of my own soon. By the way, thanks for the info on Primal Twang. Take care and enjoy your week. Susan

This is truly a beautiful post. You are an inspiration to so many women for so many reasons.

The quote by Father Albert D'Souza really hit home for me. I always feel like I'm still waiting for my life to begin. Just one more hump to get over and then, finally, I can live. But alas ~ the humps are my life.

I so wish I could convince my sister-in-law to have a look at your blog, as she was just diagnosed with cancer of the lip. I think she would be so very inspired by your wonderful outlook, as well as your gorgeus and haunting art.

Take care:
