Much To Share

I am honored to be the cover artist for the September/October issue of Somerset Studio magazine. Oh, so very very honored. As I walk past the coffee table where the magazine sits perched among my favorite books of the moment, I have to stop and take a second look. Are my eyes playing tricks on me? No, it's really my art on the cover! WOW. I take a deep breath and send up a prayer of gratitude.
I haven't really known how to share this news. Isn't that silly? But, nothing I wrote seemed good enough, thankful enough. It still seems very surreal. I mean, Somerset Studio was at the beginning of my art journey, the articles guiding me, inspiring me. And I still continually look there for inspiration. The thought that perhaps I can inspire someone is a deep meaningful one. To help where I have been helped.

Another magazine, Vennue, this one a local publication, has featured a painting of mine on it's cover for the September issue. I love it! Thank you Lauren and Joey! It was a wonderful experience meeting two special souls such as they are. They made me feel right at home there in the office of Beck Media and were so kind in their words about my work. It was a pleasure.
Inside is even an interview. Another WOW moment in my life-one I am also so grateful for.

And a new painting for the downstairs hallway.
Boy, was it difficult to photograph! I will try again on a sunnier day but for now I will share the photos from this morning. The painting was done on metal. I purchased the original metal "canvas" painted as it was with a bowl of pretty cherries, at an antique store and it was in my kitchen for years. I gessoed over the cherries recently and this is the result.
The woman in the painting is releasing her sorrows up to the heavens.
titled: "The Day that Sorrow Flew Away"

Congratulation, Tricia!
I am delighted for you.
I also find it weird to share good news in my blog, not wanting to be a braggart. But as a reader of good news, I find it encouraging to share in the joy of a fellow artist. I LOVE positive news.
AS thrilling as it is to be acknowledged and accepted for our art, I balance it in my mind with this thought. The creating of the art, the process itself was a journey, a way of taking care of myself. If no one else saw it, that could be enough. Sharing with others is a gift. To be accepted into shows, publications, etc. is a just icing on a very tasty cake.
That being said - this is wonderful news and I send you a big hug of congratulations.

Do they sell Somerset Studio in Barnes and Noble?

I am reading Vennue right now. I love the cover design. I have done collage journaling (inspired by my artist/potter son who got me started) and want to get back into it. I have big plans but have yet to get lost in it. Blogging/Writing takes up so much of my time.
