2 of Diamonds and advice needed

The 2 of Diamonds. Theme---Circles

With moving everything out of the kitchen I found the package of cheesecloth I had been looking for. I really like the texture it adds.

I need some advice---I need help with finding a good pen/marker to use for writing over a painted surface, something that won't smear if oil pastels come in contact. I need a black and a white. I am not having any luck.....any suggestions?

Tricia~
Micron pigma pens??? Supposedly these are the cat's a**. I haven't got any yet, though.

I'm a Sharpie freak but wouldn't dare say that it wouldn't smudge. I love your Two of Diamonds-

I'm going to check back and see how you make out with this one! I do a lot of marker stuff too and am not always happy with the result.

No advice, but this card is fantastic! I recently found your blog and I'm enjoying it immensely :)

I overheard an artist a few days ago recommending Permapaque pens, because they write on top of acrylic paint. I haven't tested it and I don't know if they would solve your issue, but there you go, for what it's worth. I got the impression that they're kind of a thicker pen.

I love this!!!
I use Micron pigma pens for writing over watercolor crayons and gesso... they can clog the tip a bit but wiping gently can fix that. They're permanent and won't smudge if you go over them with water.

I don't have any advice about the pens (my sons both are Sharpie fans, but we've never used them for anything other than sports memorabilia), but I just love the 2 of Diamonds!!

Hi tricia- your work is absolutely stunning. I have used gel pens because they roll really easily.

What about that white pen that Anahata sells on her Papaya website? I use it alot because it is opaque! See what you think:) Love the post!

Tricia,

More great pieces!! I recently purchase a Pitt pen form Faber Castell. It works great over acrylic paint and water soluable oil pastels. The recent Cloth Paper Scissors magazine has an article about pens, markers etc.
I hope this helps!! :)

Tricia--I have tried all the pens suggested here and personally think the Pitt pens are the best of all of them. Your card is awesome!! I love the look of cheesecloth. Ya know--I bought some to use like a year ago and guess what?? Haven't used it yet. LOL

How about the Sharpie Poster Paint pens? They have thin & medium lines. I love them - esp. the thick opaque white one. Also the Sakura glaze pens are fabulous as are the Signo white uniball which you can buy online from any number of art supply stores. Finally there are the Elmer's Painters - I have red, black, white in fine line. Love them all. All write easily over acrylic.
