JOY

"Learning to live in the present moment is part of the path of joy." ~ Sarah Ban Breathnach

"When we are centered in joy, we attain our wisdom." ~Marianne Williamson

"We are shaped by our thoughts; we become what we think. When the mind is pure, joy follows like a shadow that never leaves." ~Guatama Buddha

"Joy is not in things; it is in us." ~Richard Wagner

"Release the joy that is inside of another, and you release the joy that is inside of you."  ~Neal Donald Walch

Joy! One of my absolute favorite words. I am feeling an overwhelming amount of it today. Joy over a wonderful tumor-marker number. Joy that I will be going in a few minutes to Olivia's school to watch their class name skits. Always a fun time.

Joy that Breaking Waves, an e-book, co-edited by my friend, the beautiful and talented, Ms. Tiffany Trent, is out. Bought mine last night. All proceeds go to support the Gulf Coast Oil Spill Fund. It's a definite win-win. Help the people and animals in that region and get to read a wealth of fantastic short stories for just $4.99!

Joy that I didn't stay in the car the other day as we were waiting to pick up my husband after work at his guitar-teaching studio (we were sharing his vehicle, my sweet and much-loved but old car being in the shop and those who know me in "real life" are most likely thinking -what, not again- and to that I say-"yep, but that's gonna be it--you'll see-everything has been replaced. no more auto repair for years"---) but instead sat at the picnic table out back with Olivia and moved leaves around. We sat in the cooling breeze and wrote out "joy" and "dance" and made peace signs and hearts. And to think that I almost sat in the car and missed all the creativity that was floating by, waiting to be snatched out of the air. Writing that sentence brings to mind the Elizabeth Gilbert talk on creativity. Making a note to watch that again. It's a really good one.

Joy to have stepped out of bed and into this glorious day! Joy that my car is fixed! I could go on and on. It's just that kind of morning...

Hoping your day is joy-filled,

xo

This is such a fabulous reflection on true joy. With one of my very favorite quotes. Thank you ma'am, for joy in the morning first thing. And today? It will be what it will be, and it will not begin until the clothes dryer finishes - all my jeans tossing around inside. There is joy in the not rushing. xoxo

Tricia, I saw you had a blog and wanted to come here after accepting (thank you) your Facebook invitation. Congratulations on your medical report, surely a milestone of great significance. Loved seeing your "Joy" leaves photo. Sometimes it feels kind of like a fistfight but one of the places that joy awaits me is when I am able to make peace with what is. Doesn't mean it will be that way forever, but for now. Joy very much walks alongside peace.
