WHIMSY---Inspire Me Thursday

Thought I would try a little something different today.

"Ginny and the Owl"

6x6

I have been waiting since 1995 to use this photo of the tree I took on a walk in Atlanta! So glad I kept it around.
As I was near the end of creating this piece I recalled a story my daughter and I read together a month or so ago. "Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of Nimh." We adored the story and I wonder if that has a little to do with Ginny having ears and a tail. hmmm....

print is in my etsy shop. :)
I have ideas for 3 more in this owl series....stay tuned! :)

I can see this piece accompanying one of your wonderful tales. I hope there is one in the works. I am glad you kept the photo of the tree until the time was right to use it. I am sure Mrs.Frisby and the friends of Nihm would love to have this picture above their fireplace.:D

Fantastic!!! This piece sucked me right in. Wonderful composition. Totally dreamy, etherial, and fairy tale like. The ears and tail are just the right touch!

Tricia,

I'd definitely vote this into my top 10 favorites from you. It has a subtle quality that is pleasing to the perception. The elements blend together seamlessly (in that "suspension of disbelief" sort of way) and the fading of Ginny's legs gives her a light touch of the ethereal. Good use of monochrome, too. It makes the hints of pink and green more significant to the eye.

Happy Creativity!

This is amazing! Words won't do it justice at all. It feels both mystical and whimsical...like a parallel universe. Awesome.
Glad I saw it!

Awesome! Great work. I love the black and white. I did not see the tail or ears at first. Very imaginative.

Ooooh! Wow :) I love the monochrome colors and the feeling of a fairy tale in this - sort of like Alice and the rabbit. I like this a lot. I wonder if I've ever passed by that tree during my visits to Atlanta?

I love that image of the tree and the way you've woven together drawn and photo aspects. The assemblage is poetic.
