Two posts in one day-that hasn't happened in a long while. I logged on again to share some photos with you though the lighting still isn't the best.
This piece is titled "Beatrix, After the Seance" and it's done on the 10.5 x 15.5 ish cover of an old encyclopedia for the library art show theme "Of Goth and Strange."
I am hoping to write a short, very short story about her before the show...aren't you a little curious as to why the seance affected her so? I certainly am though I do admit to having my suspicions.
The found poem reads:
Strange how
the next morning
Miss Beatrix was
a little disturbed and anxious
as pale as a spirit
a corpse indeed
her voice was
so much deeper
and sadder when she spoke
mournful
something hinting at grief
and secret
she
wore a peculiar
feeling of
fright.
The found poem was a blast to write. It is serendipity each time, one of my fave things to do for inspiration. Pull an old book from the shelf...let your hand wander across the spines. Select a book and tear two, three, or four random pages. Then cut out words that may work for your piece. Just have fun with this. Then move all of your cut words around, discarding some along the way til you have your poem. I got so lucky with words like "strange" and "pale"-all perfect for the theme.
I am going to be trying something new next week. Offering prints of my paintings and collages....I am excited and nervous about this new step but it feels like a good thing. Any advice would be so appreciated...

I really like your art work and your adorable daughter's ballet photos.
I too like to be in the dirt and sunshine to build Fairie houses with the kids. We have done that in a special area of our yard for about 16 years.
