Travelling Shoes

We went out for a walk in the Grandin area on Friday, celebrating birthdays and one another. The weather was wonderful with a touch of chill and we strolled down streets I hadn't been down in years, not since I before I was married and I had an apartment there.
One song kept circling in my head, escaping my lips every now and then. The Littlest Birds Sing the Prettiest Songs. Do you know it?
These lines especially--
You pass through places
And places pass through you
But you carry them with you
On the soles of your travelling shoes.
Oh, how I love love love that song!

So many memories in that part of town. Kelly and I walked down Bluemont holding hands, Olivia skipping down the sidewalk in front of us. She is always happiest when we three are together.
The last time Kelly and I had been there like that was before marriage, before thoughts of having a child. It was a surreal feeling tracing those same steps as I am now. So many changes in my life, so much to be grateful for and I was moved to skip a little myself.

There is a great little pizza place near the theater and a chic consignment boutique, a cemetery with lovely trees in blossom. We visited them all. I have visions of moving back here, part of my heart is still here. We looked at a few houses on Sunday that are for sale. One had this lovely attic space that would be perfect for an art studio.....

The absence of art being posted here saddens me if I think on it. The writing of Able's story has changed the way I spend my time each day but there are projects in the works.
There is a series of 4 pieces I am painting of Olivia, still in the early stages...
and I just finished up a submission for Somerset, for their Halloween theme challenge. Here are four closeup pics. All great fun to think of Halloween and creepy things that go bump in the night when I am also thinking of spring and budding leaves and sunshine.

Blessings,

Hi Tricia,
Your post made me whistful, thinking about where my shoes have been too. I guess there will always be these special places in our life that old a special memory/feeling and will always remain tucked in our hearts.

Hi stranger!

I can't wait to see the paintings of Olivia!

I just found out my art was selected for the May/ June 2008 issue of Somerset The call was "Heroes" I submitted a piece featuring my grandfather...

I can't wait to get my copy, AND I can't wait to get my hands on the art! I miss it, they keep it for so long. I think it's worth it though....
