Perhaps A Singing Bird Will Come

Before I share what I made last night I wanted to tell you about my morning. I came down and was going to post and was on my blog and my eyes fell upon the list of lovely ladies I had nominated for the rockin' girl blogger award. Something was all wrong. "What about Bridgette? Did I forget Bridgette, my kindred spirit? And what about Rande? And Vanessa? Oh my goodness! And sweet Jamie!" All of these wonderful blogs and I just think you ALL rock by the way. That's why I am no good as these types of things.

Anyway, my forgetting has bothered me all day...Please check out these wonderful ladies as well as others on my sidebar. They are all there for a reason and there are more I need to add...

My blog friends are as dear to me as my "real-life" ones. You help me so by encouraging me and offering me your friendship. I have grown as an artist because of you-your inspiration and community. My husband knows you by name because I speak of you as I do friends here in Virginia. I talk about meeting you someday and having tea and doing art together---wouldn't that be cool? Or I mention what awesome art you created and how you have touched me.

I do have an art piece to share. I worked on this last night. Our budget now is beyond tight ( I will just mention quickly that we have a rental property and the tenants haven't paid in a while---5 months I am embarrassed to say--but they have 4 kids-- and we have been covering both mortages and it has been a nightmare---but enough of that cause it gets me all upset!) Anyway, the budget is tight right now and I didn't have a canvas to paint on. I really wanted to paint something biggish to go in the downstairs bathroom so I grabbed a cabinet door I had stowed away under my art table. It had been purchased months ago for 1 dollar. 27 x 13 inches. I gessoed it and went to town! (The tight budget has me using up things I already have so that is a bright side to this. Definitely a wake up call for me!)

The inspiration was a Chinese proverb I copied down last week. "Keep a green tree in your heart and perhaps a singing bird will come." Isn't that lovely! I immediately felt a spark ignite and just knew I had to create something soon with this in mind.

Do poems/proverbs/quotes inspire you? What causes your mind to race with ideas? Do you jot them down?

I used acrylics and this neat stuff called Golden sand texture gel. The birdies were collaged on. I haven't gotten the face quite the way I want it...I need more interaction with the birds. hmmmm....something to work on.

update: I did go back and play a bit more with the eyes, especially the left one, also I made the pupils a bit more to the bird on the left and upturned the mouth the slightest amount. I am happy now...shew!!! I knew I wouldn't be able to sleep if I didn't at least try. Isn't that silly? Yes, it is, but that is me I suppose. lol. I snapped a photo but Blogger is being stubborn and won't let me load pics now.
