After the Story

5 x 7 on watercolor paper

This is Maria and we see her here after the story, just after the snow has begun it's tap tapping against the window panes, though long after she has lost all in the world there is to lose and still be standing upright.
Maria watches the snow as it falls, imagines it landing softly on the graves of those she still calls for sometimes in the night.
That was so long ago, she thinks, wondering how it could be true. How could time pass so quickly? "Time is a thief," she whispers aloud. Her hand moves to her heart, expecting the pain but for the first time it is not there. For a reason she does not yet understand her mind shows her an image of the room at the top of the stairs. The one with the door always locked. The one with the walls of the deepest blue, the one waiting to be filled. The one so much like her heart.

I want to thank you for your comments on my last two posts. I was just so happy to read them and please know that they are appreciated. I am going to try to reply to each one as I get a chance. There have been a lot of ups and downs here at home lately---ups mostly here at our house but some really not so good things happening with other close family members. Tonight I am filled with worry for two little hearts.
I hope all is well where you are.
Blessings,

Stunning Art as usual girl!
When I look at this piece, I think of the reactions I get when people look at my art at the festival... You would receive the same heartfelt reactions... I would really like to see you get a booth!
I hope your worries come to an end, I will be thinking of you.
