GREEN

I finally did it.
I finally packaged up my first submissions to Somerset Studio Magazine. Five collage pieces for the theme of green. It's not too late for you to do the same-the deadline is in August. The collages have been completed for a good long while, sitting atop my record player waiting for me to put them in a box, waiting for me to decide that I will let myself be ok with getting my art "out there." So now they are in a box by the door, waiting for the morning to come and the post office to open. Below is a little card I placed on top with a few little things written inside. Serendipity to have green wrapping paper!

This is my last post for a few days I think. I will be leaving either Wednesday or Thursday on a short trip with my mother-in-law, Janice and my daughter to Virginia Beach to pick up my stepdaughter Hannah for Father's Day. My husband has to work and can't go with us. Boy oh boy do I wish he could. Really I do. I am close to whining mode but I am trying hard to keep it together. I am 35 after all. Shouldn't I be passed all that. :) But....How I would love to be riding in the passenger seat, a magazine in my lap instead of changing lanes on the intersection and listening to Janice telling me ---in a nice way---to slow down a little. Oh mercy me-I am having flashbacks of our last trip! Luckily Hannah's mom and other family are soon to be back in Roanoke and I will be so relieved. Not only do we miss Hannah but I am not very fond of Virginia Beach or at least the drive there. I honestly have not given it a chance, usually not staying long enough to enjoy it. Janice wants to stay either one night or two so Hannah can share with us some of her favorite Virginia Beach places. I am all for that. But...there is so much to do here.....oh, Why oh why am I such a homebody? Why can't I just roll with sudden changes in my schedule? I am feeling the need for a deep breathing session and a cup of tea. Things always look better in the morning, isn't that how it goes?

Be well and creative,

xoxo,

Good luck with the submissions. It's always scary taking that first step, but the more you do it, the easier it gets. I'm learning that myself. Your work is wonderful and I am sure they will want them. And if not, try not to let it stop you or discourage you. The pieces you submitted may be better for another issue. Just keep on!

You just never know what's going to happen until you release your intentions out into the world. I am going through the same process myself. :)

Have a safe trip!

Good for you Tricia! I am so glad you sent your submission in. I remember reading a post of yours from a while back that this was a goal for you. I've been wanting to send in something to Somerset Studio for a while now myself...but haven't quite gotten up the nerve yet. Your work is amazing and I know they will love it. Was it hard to part with your art?

YAY!

We need to go thrifting...to get some fresh air and ideas. Maybe when you get back?

If I don't see you before your trip, have a safe one. (But if you come into the library, bring the circle book, I can't wait to see it.)

Sounds like we are 2 of a kind. I'm a homebody, too. However, once I force myself out of the house, I have a good time!

Congrats on sending in your 1st submissions to Somerset! I'll look forward to seeing them published. Believe it or not, I've never submitted anything myself. You may have given the "green" light...LOL!!

Congratulations on your submission!!! That's half the battle! Your art work is Summerset worthy so I am sure they will be thrilled to receive it!

That is wonderful. Looking at your art work I am sure you will be accepted. I have mine ready to mail for the green theme too. When I first sent stuff in to Somerset one of mine was accepted while the other one was returned. Luckily I got a copy of the magazine with my art in it before they mailed me back the one that they rejected so I was not too disappointed. Best of luck.
