Red Pointe Shoes

Thank you to all who posted kind comments about the pieces from the other day. I felt so encouraged and uplifted that this morning I started on the last blank canvas that was hanging in the hallway. I just couldn't handle seeing the bright white next to the warm colors. Where as with the last canvas I was winging it, with this one I knew I wanted to paint a ballerina for Olivia. She is my sweet little dancer. Today she spent 2 hours dancing in her room while I painted and even as I type this she is at dance class. (The big performance is Sunday and they are there til 9 tonight!) So ballerinas are very important in our home and it was easy to feel inspired as I sketched out the design. Again I used a face torn from a magazine as my guideline. The colors were really already chosen for me because I wanted them to be the same as in the painting from the last post. And of course she had to have red pointe shoes!

Sorry about the glare! It is evening here and there is not good lighting in the hallway. I think my hubby needs his camera tomorrow so I decided to go ahead and post what pics I had. I may try to get better ones later.
Wanna know something silly---I am like a little child at Christmas and so pleased I am with how it turned out that I spent at least 15 minutes just sitting in the hall looking up at it. Olivia knew I was painting something but she didn't know it was going to be a ballerina and I am looking forward to seeing her reaction. I got emotional thinking of how amazing it feels to make something for her that hopefully she will always keep, always treasure.
And you know that feeling when you discover something new about yourself ( like learning you can paint ) or when a new door in your life is opening and you can see there is something very cool on the other side? That brought tears too.
I encourage each of you to try something new or do that something you have been thinking of for a while now, take that class or whatever it is....just follow that beautiful heart of yours! Today...

One question...Is there anyone out there going to the Just Be Connected workshop in October?

Oh wow - the colours are so striking and I love the additon of the butterflies. The three canvas paintings are just perfect all together.
If I was able to paint something as amazing as this I would be so proud and you should be proud, they really are gorgeous :)

Tricia - this is soooo very beautiful! I love the warm background colors. They are earthy and glowing at the same time. The ballerina with her light blue looks perfect against the houses; the butterflies add a very specialtouch. The three paintings together on the wall make a splendid series. I remember admiring the one with the door to the heart... Wonderful work.

Now this one is so gorgeous and stikes a very big cord with me. Red ballet shoes, or any ballet and dance shoes do for that matter. My family's business is BLOCH as in Bloch's Ballet. Not sure if you know the brand over there as a household name but here in Aus we are a housheold name and a 3 generation old business. I have a very vintage photo of my mum holding some red pointe shoes that her father made - so your painting brings back many memories.
