Altered Bits and a painting for sale

I am honored to have work in super-talented Alicia Caudle's Altered Bits Magazine. There's tons of goodness in this zine. There's work by Alicia herself (check out the link and see her cool mixed media doll called "the storyteller"-I adore him!) and there's work by Jay Anderson, Seth Apter, Joanne Archer, Finn Caudle (LOVE the collaboration with his mom, Alicia), Katie Cahill, Kym Decker, Patti Edmon, Kerin Gale, David Hayes, Lisa Jurist, Tracey Kraft, Melissa Majchrzak Buckley, Debi Mattingly, Kim Palmer, Lisa Sarsfield, Renate Starke Krammer, Esther Verschoor, Rachel Whetzel and Jill Zaheer also.

Here's the gorgeous cover:

And here's a piece of mine called "her name was sarah but her mother called her luna."and a snippet of anotherand another.

If you want to order a magazine of your very own, click here.

And see the third image, the one of the girl and the moon. It was hanging in my studio for a good while after sending the scanned image to Alicia. I thought it was finished. But then one day I pulled it from the wall and started tinkering with it, adding glazes of blue and painting the party horns yellow and red. "Just what story are you telling me?" I asked the girls. They replied that theirs was a story of growing up. "See the moon there. It governs us. It pulls at us on the inside. Our blood cycles with the moon." The red ribbon was added to represent the cycle which enables new life and awakens a vital creative force. It is about honoring the feminine, embracing the cycle. To me, they appear spunky and determined, strong, ready for whatever life brings to them.

miss tricia! first, thank you for such a wonderful and heartwarming post. really it was much more than that -- your words and the changes you made to that gorgeous painting which i already adored brought tears to my eyes for some reason. you know those moments when you see or hear something so beautiful it almost makes you want to cry? that was what i've just experienced and i thank you for that. if i had the money, i would snatch that painting up in half a heartbeat (heck, if i had the money i would pay you double for it because i could). someone is going to be a HUGELY lucky owner of two gorgeous sisters.

thank you again, sweet lady!
