Huntress

"Life shrinks or expands in proportion to one's courage."~Anais Nin

That quote combined with the glorious full moon in the sky the past days inspired this piece. I'll be putting the finishing touches on it tomorrow. One more painting for the coffeeshop in April. The above is 16"x16." I've told several friends it's 20"x20" and I sincerely thought it was until I saw my 20"x20" birch panel propped under my art table. Oooops. When I received my last art supply order I just unwrapped and placed the bigger supports willy-nilly under the table, not ready at the time to go so large. I'm used to 6"x6" and 8"x8." The next one in line to paint is 12x18. I'm breaking out of my comfort zone a bit, expanding, with these larger sizes and I'm liking it.

There have been several other pieces completed that I've forgotten to photograph (I'll try to do that tomorrow. My goal is also to add some of my older work onto the gallery page above---trying to get organized with my work is a bigger job than I had originally thought it would be) and then several new pieces that I can only share with you in snippets. Here is a glimpse of those:

What are you up to these days?

Ahhh, I love her, it, the whole painting! I really like how you handled the details too. The dots on the ground beneath her feet...love it.
I just finished a 16x20 inch encaustic painting- pushing myself too in terms of bigger size. The thing that I really enjoy about working larger is more room for mark-making. I know that sounds so obvious, but more room=bolder movement=more risk. I really love it. It looks like to me that a larger size is doing well by you too.

Ah, great work! I love the quote as it goes so perfectly with the painting. Glad you are getting out of the comfort zone, feels good doesn't it? What a soulful vision you have, full of spirit!

size doesn't confound you ! This is a beautiful piece in all ways, Tricia. Your work is always in the category of "heart-stopping, breath-taking" for me. You are brave and the quote is perfect and such a perfect way to acknowledge the birthday of Anais! Love you, keep it going.

Your work is enchanting. I admire your ability to do such prolific work and to do it so well. I, too, am inspired by vintage images and love to recreate vintage photos with my own twist. Thank you for sharing.

Wondering if you were going to give us more peeks into these particular works? I am hoping so.
