Clearing Out the Clutter

You know how when you are sick things just don't get done around the house? Laundry piles up even higher, floors go unmopped and the salt shaker goes unfilled yet another day. The cold or whatever it was took me down-I was completely miserable and I seem to be slow getting back in the groove. Yesterday I found some energy and rearranged things----our homeschool room is now where our living room was--- my art stuff is in a pile in a room upstairs (hopefully this is where my attention can go this evening. Oh how I am itching to make some colorful lines or glue one paper to another! ) Our living room furnishings are in the prior homeschool/art room. The house feels better. More room to breathe and move. I acquired two new bookshelves so this is helping me get all organized. Being/getting organized sure is feeling good. This appears to be a major part of my journey for 2007. Declutter. One enormous bag of trash went out and a bunch of stuff went to the Rescue Mission. The house feels lighter.

So, from here on out, I promise myself to be more mindful about each and every item I bring into the house.
Thinking of feeling lighter makes me think of friendships and how they help to carry us along through life, floating high with our ups and cushioning the downs. Thank you for all of your well wishes. I could feel the positive vibes.

Two of Olivia's closest friends enjoying time with her on the porch last week. See the cushions I made earlier in the summer!...:)

Well, my day is filled with packaging art, going through the stacks of papers still in piles on the floor, spending time with Hannah, my stepdaughter who is with us this week, and catching up on your blogs and what you have been up to. I have missed so much! Can't wait to see what you have been creating.

Beth and Jeanne and Bari J were so sweet and awarded me this nice matters award! Why am I always so surprised by this community, by the friendships and thoughtfullness? I am honored ladies! Thank you! If you could have seen sick, grumpy me on Saturday you would take this award away! I give the award to all the lovely souls on the right hand of my blog.
Have a peaceful creative day!

xoxo,

So glad to hear that you are feeling better Tricia. And you accomplished so much in your burst of energy. It is amazing how clutter weighs so heavy on our lives. I keep attempting to make space in my house...but it isn't so easy deciding what should go and what should stay. After reading your post I think I'll give it another try.

I really feel better when I change things in the house like you did...one room being transformed into another purpose. It feels so accomplished when it is done and settled.

So glad to hear you're feeling a little bit better. I hope that at time of writing this, you're back to your full self.

Ah, decluttering is such a freeing act! I do it often and call it "space clearing". It's amazing how much energy can be freed by ridding ourselves of what we no longer need nor want. When things get a bit stuck in my life, I clear my space! It works :-)
